This blog is about the changing nature of work at the beginning of the third millenium. Because the nature of work in the last two or three decades has changed so much, I am revisiting the theme with a view to documenting how much it has changed…and also to show the areas where it remains the same. Great photographers have trodden this path before me and I immediately think of the work of Lewis Hine, August Sander and even the pictures of Henri Cartier Bresson in his book, Man and Machine, which he shot for IBM.

Even though that outstanding photo editor Wilson Hicks propounded that “The basic unit of journalism is one picture, WITH words”, words here will be kept to an absolute minimum. Where they are unavoidable, I will exile them to pages well separated from the pictures.

This blog is not intended to be a self-promoting exercise. If after looking at the pictures you want to know something more about me, you can perhaps fill in some of the gaps at my personal blog, here.
